Kindredly is my colleague and also my blog-mentor. So I am just thrilled at the opportunity to guest blog today! Now, we have a different kind of blog. It's only mildly personal, it's more of a where to go, what to do type deal. So, as much as I'd like to type out a rant about work, dating, friends, fashion, etcetera...it's not really my area of expertise.
Instead, I have compiled a list of 10 Fabulous Atlanta Dates! (Note: It's my opinion that any of these could also be used for a Fabulous GNO: Girls Night Out as well.) By the way, I have embedded lots o'links - 'cause Ashley taught me how - so click away!
Here we go!
10. Dad's Garage/Whole World Theatre - they are both improv theatres and they are both fabulous. If someone had a gun to my head, I'd say I prefer Whole World to Dad's, but I can't even tell you what that's based on. They are both hilarious, both unreasonably creative, and both sell buckets of beer. It's a fun little date night and it's not hard to find great restaurants nearby either. If you need help, let me know. I have lots of opinions on that subject.
9. Wired + Fired - Ok, good luck getting a boy to take you here, but if you do, I'll bet you'll have a blast. In fact, I had one of the best dates of my life at Wired + Fired. Admittedly, it was with my best friend Erin, but we really enjoyed ourselves glazing our mugs in the middle of the Highlands on a Saturday night. FYI: W+F is BYOB and BYO-Dog and BYO-Food if you'd like.8. Park Tavern + Piedmont Dog Park - This is definitely more fun if one or both of you own a dog, but let me just tell you about a spectacular day: bloody marys and a bite at Park Tavern and then strolling around Piedmont with your pooches on a nice crisp fall day. But if you happen to be sans-dog, follow the same instructions and just go see all the other darling doggies in the dog park!
7. Buckhead Fork + Screen - Dinner and a Movie with a twist! You can do both at the same time. BF+S has a wait staff that serves food and cocktails whilst you enjoy your movie. Plus, Lindsay's boyfriend will tell you, the big swirly chairs are pretty clutch.6. Drinks at JCT + Dinner at Abattoir - sip cocktails and listen to live music on JCT's uuber-cool roof deck ("Europe? I know that place.") before crossing the footbridge over to Star Provision's new-ish concept, Abattoir. (Which means "slaughterhouse" in French.) Note: this is not a date for a vegetarian. Check with your lady to be sure she is a carnivore.
5. A Sunday Afternoon at Loehmann's - Ok FINE. It's shameless self-promotion. I am in this play. But y'all: it's fabulous. From the writers of Peachtree Battle, Atlanta's longest running play, this show is cute and adorable and did I mention I am in it???? Also, it's BYOB! They will provide corkscrews and glasses and it's a fun little evening or afternoon. Trust. Just come See it, ok? http://www.ansleyparkplayhouse.com for tickets.
4. Pub Grub and Games at Twain's - Lindsay introduced me to this little gem in Decatur. Her favorite game is tabletop shuffleboard but they also have billiards, foosball, darts, and other ways to distract yourself while you are drinking your way through their extensive selection of beers and eating your way through their delectable assortment of bar-type food.3. Hiking and Wineries in Dahlonega - I once went on a 3-mile hike (decked in my Lulu, of course) with a dude and his dog and then to Wolf Mountain Vineyards for a tasting, a private tour, and a couple of glasses of wine and a lovely little cheese plate on their outside patio overlooking the north Georgia mountains. It was divine, y'all.
2. Dinner at Top Flr + Fox Theatre - This is a very Lauren-type-evening. Top Flr is my favorite restaurant in the city, hands down. I think it's an excellent date or GNO spot. The food is amazing and should be twice the price. Plus, it's a mere block away from the Fabulous Fox Theatre so check to see what's playing (musical or movie!) and bada-bing, bada-boom! You've got a terrific date.
1. Martinis and I-Max - I'm not going to tell you I think this is the most innovative date idea in the world, and I'm definitely not going to tell you how many times I have participated in this activity with a boy who thinks it is. What I will tell you is this: if you drink enough martinis (say...1.5 - 2 for me) an educational movie on an enormous screen is absolutely hilarious. I have been known to dissolve into fits of giggles at I-Max and Martinis. True story.Plus, you will enjoy live jazz and an enormous dinosaur skeleton in the atrium of the Fernbank. And that is awesome. (it's a DINOSAUR, y'all.) It's just a great evening. I'd also recommend Sotto Sotto or Fritti for dinner either before or after.
Ok! That's all I got. Thanks for reading! Can't wait for Ashley's return...

I have never in my life seen "etcetera" spelled out.
I feel as though my life is complete now.
Nice Job on the update today. I was kind of miffed that Pappasitoes wasn't listed as a great date place.
Josh,
I am so glad I could bring something as exotic as the full spelling of "etc." into your life.
And obvi I couldn't list Pappasitoes. I want it to be "our" place. Sigh.
